Parents Who Pray
A Course in the people of prayer series
Welcome to our “Parents Who Pray” course! As you walk through each class at your own pace, we believe the Holy Spirit has words of encouragement, inspiration, and instruction for you as you seek to be a parent who prays for those entrusted to your care. To get the most out of your experience, we recommend that you watch the classes in order and work through the associated reflection exercises to apply what you have gleaned.
Good Father, come and speak to each person as they take this course. You have truth to reveal, wisdom of which you desire for us to grab hold. Open our hearts and minds to receive from You. We come with holy expectation, anticipating You moving and acting in our lives. In Your Name We Pray, Amen.
Course Classes
Class 1
The Importance of praying for your children
This class explores why praying for your children is both a powerful spiritual act and a vital part of parenting, emphasizing that prayer invites God’s presence, protection, and guidance into their lives. It encourages parents to pray consistently, simply, and with faith—trusting God with the outcomes even when the results aren’t immediate or guaranteed. Reflection Exercise
Class 2
Dealing With Your Own Hang-ups
This class helps parents recognize how unresolved fear, shame, and control from their own past can subtly shape the way they pray for and parent their children. By identifying the lies they’ve believed and replacing them with God’s truth, parents can begin to pray and lead from a place of faith and freedom, breaking generational patterns and modeling trust in God for their kids. Reflection Exercise
Class 3
Involving Your Kids In Prayer
This class encourages parents to involve their children in prayer by modeling authentic, everyday conversations with God and creating safe, judgment-free spaces for kids to express themselves spiritually. It emphasizes that the power of prayer lies not in perfect words but in introducing kids to the trustworthy, all-powerful God who hears and responds. Reflection Exercise
Class 4
Real life prayers
This class equips parents to pray powerfully and practically for their children through the real-life challenges they face—emotionally, mentally, relationally, and behaviorally. It emphasizes that while parents can’t always fix what their kids are going through, they can intercede in prayer, inviting Jesus into every hard place with authority, compassion, and hope. Reflection Exercise
Class 5
The Spiritual Power of Surrendering Your Kids In Prayer
This class teaches that one of the most powerful things a parent can do is spiritually surrender their children to God in prayer, letting go of fear and the illusion of control. It emphasizes that parenting from faith rather than fear brings peace, and encourages practical steps to trust God with your child’s future through prayer and truth-based reflection.
